Take a quick poll: how many pieces of jewelry are sitting in a drawer right now because they tarnished, turned your skin green, or just stopped looking new after a few months?
Probably more than one. That's because most fashion jewelry is built from brass or copper with a thin layer of gold paint on top. Add sweat, water, perfume, or just time — and the coating wears through. The base metal reacts with skin. The finish dulls.
What we do differently
Every NORA piece starts with surgical-grade stainless steel — the same material used in medical implants. It's hypoallergenic, doesn't react with skin, and won't rust or corrode.
Then we add an 18K gold or rhodium PVD coating. PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is a process where metal atoms are bonded to the steel at a molecular level inside a vacuum chamber. It's the same finish you'll find on high-end watches. It's rated to last 5–10× longer than traditional electroplating.
What that means in practice:
- It won't fade in the shower, pool, or ocean
- It won't tarnish from sweat, lotion, or perfume
- It won't turn your skin green
- It's safe for sensitive skin (we've stress-tested it with hundreds of customers who can only normally wear titanium or solid gold)
What about damage?
Hard impact can still scratch the finish — same as it would on a solid gold piece. But the color won't fade with normal wear. And if it ever does, we replace it free under our lifetime color warranty.
